Raini Introduces The Lords of Light — Play and Earn and Enjoy
A TCG for the Cryptoverse and beyond…
We’re finally able to share some closely guarded details about our upcoming trading card game — suffice to say, we’re pretty excited!
The official working title is The Lords of Light. Players in the game will take the role of a hero of one of the seven Lords of Light, commanding armies of mythological creatures and crypto legends in battles to defeat other heroes — ultimately seeking to defeat the Quantum Rug and save the world.
From the outset, we wanted to bring a level of quality and finish that’s generally not seen in the crypto space, and to ensure that the game is actually fun to play. To that end, we have put together a highly skilled team of artists and developers, and can’t wait to share more details about what we’ve been working on. So without further ado…
Game Overview
Each Hero and card will have a designated colour.
Play And Earn Mechanics
You read that correctly; The Lords of Light will incorporate a play andearn model. After witnessing the overwhelming success of games like Axie Infinity and Alien Worlds, we have seen how effective play-and-earn mechanics can be in growing a community, thereby providing immense value to the entire ecosystem.
As part of this strategy, we will be launching a new utility token called $PHOTON, which will act as the primary game currency. This approach will enable a number of key earning mechanisms which will help drive user adoption. You will be able to earn Photon tokens via the PHOTON portal, and increase this earning rate in a number of ways, including:
- Winning ranked battles
- Completing daily quests
- Winning tournaments
- Renting out higher level cards
The Photon token will have liquidity and be fully tradable, allowing players to buy and sell the token on the market at their discretion. Players will therefore essentially be able to earn an income by simply playing and succeeding within an immersive and engaging TCG!
The Lords of Light Genesis Pack Drop
With beautiful art now completed for close to 50 cards, we can confirm that the genesis card drop is coming in September.
We will be dividing the card packs into two pools:
- The first pool will consist of packs that are reserved for our valued community members, and therefore only able to be redeemed with Rainbows or Unicorns. Some premium packs within this pool will only be redeemable with Unicorns, as we feel it’s time to start rewarding community members who have stepped up to really support Raini by providing liquidity.
Note: It is our intention for future card pack drops to always have a reserved pool dedicated for Raini community members, redeemable for rainbows and unicorns.
2. The second pool will consist of packs that will be made available to the general public, and will be purchasable with ETH or BNB.
This approach will allow us to actively grow the Raini community, driving value for the game cards on secondary markets, and for the Raini project more broadly.

Lore Overview
Note: This is an abridged version of the Raini TCG lore.
The planet Raini is the sole celestial body orbiting a giant black hole sun at the centre of the Rainiverse. On its surface, armies of mythological creatures constantly engage in brutal battles, each driven by the will of one of the Seven Lords of Light.
Legend has it that the coveted Rainbow Gem will choose one Lord of Light and bestow upon them the power to summon the ultimate warrior, Chad Raini. Given that this would effectively translate to total dominion over the Rainiverse, the Lords constantly vie to prove themselves on the field of battle.
Enter the super-villain of the game, and Chad’s arch nemesis, who some of Raini OG’s may recognize — the Quantum Rug.
After its failed attempt to 4D rugpull the Rainiverse and drain all of its light-force to power proof of work mining, the Quantum Rug is now back with a vengeance, ready to wreak more havoc.
This time it has the Ethereum 2.0's Proof of Stake network in its sights, since this poses a direct threat to its blockchain mining interests. It turns out that the Rainiverse’s light-force can be used to overwhelm Eth 2.0’s consensus mechanism, and trigger a cascading effect that would destroy all the network’s shards.
What the Quantum Rug doesn’t realise is that this would create a multiverse time paradox, given that it was actually minted on a transdimensional Proof of Stake chain hundreds of years into the future. The Rug’s actions could therefore cause a rip in the space-time continuum, setting off a chain reaction that would destroy the entire multiverse. This is truly a battle for existence itself, across all dimensions and timelines.
There is some hope — by opening a portal between the Rainiverse and the Cryptoverse, the Quantum Rug drew our favourite Crypto Legends into battle. Seeing a way to gain the upper hand, each of the Lords set out to empower and influence select Crypto Legends to fight in their light war.
While the Lords infused their newly recruited Crypto Legends with great power, they also infected their minds with the unquestioning belief that their new Lord was “chosen” to win the light war, claim the Rainbow Gem as their own, and summon the great Chad Raini to save the multiverse from the Quantum Rug.
Committed to aiding their respective Lords in winning the war and preventing the Rugpocalypse, each of the Crypto Legends quickly wielded their weapons, and set off towards the portal to the Rainiverse — with the exception of Charles Hoskinson, who still insists that he needs to perfect his weapon before deploying it.
